About Roman Baber

Roman Baber is an Independent Member of Provincial Parliament, representing the riding of York Centre.

Roman was elected in the June 2018 Ontario Election and served as Chair of Parliament’s Standing Committee on Justice Policy until he was removed by Doug Ford from the Government Caucus for publicly opposing the lockdowns.

Roman is a lawyer called to the Ontario Bar in 2006. He practiced law until his election, primarily in insurance and commercial litigation. He attended high school at W.L. Mackenzie, obtained a B.A. from York University and graduated from law school at the University of Western Ontario.

Roman was born and raised in the Soviet Union until age eight and then lived in Israel until age fifteen. He immigrated to Canada with his family in 1995 and settled in the heart of York Centre at Sheppard and Bathurst.

Roman is an occasional lecturer at an after-school program, engaging high school students on constitutional and criminal law topics. Roman loves Canadian kindness and opportunity. He is a loyal fan of the Toronto Raptors.
